Every great story starts somewhere, and this was the first mark of the Heavenly Hill Honey journey. Our original logo represented the passion, dedication, and love for beekeeping that inspired us from the beginning. While our brand has grown and evolved, this first logo will always hold a special place in our history as a reminder of where we started and the vision that continues to guide us today.

Sweet Beginnings

A special moment in the early days of Heavenly Hill Honey—one of our first farmers markets in Danville, Virginia. This was where we began sharing our honey directly with our community, building connections one customer and one conversation at a time. What started with our hives and a passion for beekeeping grew into a journey of bringing pure, handcrafted honey from our bees to families near and far.

What started as a dream in Virginia grew into a moment of recognition that reminded us we were on the right path. Virginia Hives

Virginia is where the Heavenly Hill Honey journey began. Our original hives thrive among the state’s diverse landscapes and seasonal blooms, where generations of bees have helped us build our passion for beekeeping. Virginia Hives

Lavender Field

Our hives rest within fragrant lavender fields, where bees naturally pollinate the blooms to create true lavender honey. Each jar carries the gentle floral notes and calming essence drawn straight from the nectar itself.

Alfalfa Field

Our hives rest among blooming alfalfa fields, where bees gather nectar straight from the blossoms to craft true alfalfa honey. Each jar carries a smooth, delicate flavor with soft vanilla notes — naturally made by the bees.

Each colony is a living community of thousands of hardworking bees, working together to pollinate, gather nectar, and create something truly special. From the first bloom to the final jar, our honey starts with healthy hives and happy bees.

Observation Hives

Our fully functioning observation hive offers a unique glimpse into the incredible world of honey bees. Through the clear panels, people can watch the bees work together as they build comb, care for their colony, and go about their daily tasks. This living display helps showcase the importance of bees, the fascinating organization of the hive, and the amazing process behind every drop of honey we enjoy.

Hands of Beekeeping

Michael works closely with the colonies that are at the heart of Heavenly Hill Honey. Each hive inspection is an opportunity to care for the bees, monitor their health, and better understand the rhythm of the colony. These moments reflect the dedication and respect that go into every hive, every harvest, and every jar of honey we share.

Setting up Hives

Michael introduces a bee package into a hive with frames of capped honey ready to support the colony. Moments like this are where careful preparation, experience, and respect for the bees come together. Each new colony is a step forward in our beekeeping journey, building stronger hives and continuing the story of Heavenly Hill Honey one frame at a time.

European Hornets

Not every visitor to the hive is a friend of the bees. This European hornet is a reminder of the challenges honey bees can face and the important role beekeepers play in protecting their colonies. Caring for healthy hives means understanding the threats around them and taking steps to support the safety and strength of the bees that make our honey possible.

Pulling Sourwood

A rewarding moment as Michael lifts a frame of freshly capped sourwood honey. The perfectly sealed cells are a testament to the hard work of the bees and the patience that goes into every harvest. Known for its unique flavor and treasured qualities, sourwood honey represents the incredible connection between the bees, the blooms they forage, and the care behind every jar of Heavenly Hill Honey.

Capped Brood

This frame shows capped brood—the stage of development where young bees have grown from eggs into larvae and are sealed inside their cells with a protective layer of wax. Inside these capped cells, the bees continue developing until they are ready to emerge and join the colony. Capped brood is an important sign of a healthy, thriving hive and represents the next generation of hardworking bees that will help support the colony. Each frame tells a story of growth, teamwork, and the incredible process happening inside every Heavenly Hill Honey apiary.

Baby Bee's Emerging

A glimpse of one of the hive’s most incredible moments—a young honey bee emerging from its capped brood cell. After days of development inside the protective wax covering, the new bee chews its way out and takes its first steps into life within the colony. This small but amazing moment represents the constant renewal happening inside a healthy hive. Each new bee plays an important role in supporting the colony and continuing the remarkable cycle of life inside every Heavenly Hill Honey apiary.

Bee Removal

Not every hive begins in a traditional apiary. During this bee removal, we helped relocate a colony that had made its home in the eaves of a building. With patience, care, and respect for the bees, we safely removed the hive and gave the colony a chance to continue thriving in a more suitable environment. Bee removals are a reminder of the important role beekeepers play in protecting these incredible pollinators while helping communities safely share their spaces with honey bees.

Bee Swarm

A honey bee swarm is one of nature’s most incredible sights—a living cloud of thousands of bees working together to find a new home. Swarming is a natural part of colony growth, occurring when a strong hive divides and a queen leaves with a portion of the colony to establish a new home. While it may look intimidating, a swarm is typically a calm and temporary gathering of bees. These moments offer a rare glimpse into the amazing organization and instinct of honey bees as they continue the cycle of building and expanding their colonies.

Catching a Swarm

Sometimes bees need a little help finding the perfect place to call home. This swarm box is designed to safely capture a traveling colony and provide a secure space for the bees until they can be relocated to a permanent hive. With patience and careful handling, we’re able to protect the swarm while giving these incredible pollinators a chance to continue thriving.

FLIR Camera

During the colder months, caring for our bees requires a closer look at what’s happening inside the hive. Using a FLIR thermal camera, we can safely monitor the colony’s activity and locate the warmth of the bee cluster without disturbing the hive. This technology helps us better understand how our bees are handling winter and allows us to make informed decisions to support healthy, thriving colonies year-round.

Bear Attack

Even the strongest colonies face challenges. This photo captures the aftermath of a bear attack, a reminder that beekeeping comes with unexpected obstacles and the responsibility of protecting our hives from the wildlife around them. While losses like this are difficult, they are part of the journey and reinforce our commitment to learning, adapting, and doing everything we can to support our bees.

Honey Extractor

Our honey extractor is where the harvest truly begins. After carefully removing frames filled with capped honey from the hive, the extractor uses gentle centrifugal force to release the honey while keeping the beautiful comb intact for the bees to use again. This important step connects the work of the hive to the finished jar, preserving the care, craftsmanship, and natural goodness that define Heavenly Hill Honey.

Liquid Gold

After the frames have been carefully extracted, the honey begins its journey from the hive to the jar. This golden stream is the result of countless hours of work from our bees and the careful hands of our beekeepers. Every drop represents the blooms they visited, the colonies they built, and the dedication that goes into bringing you the pure, natural goodness of Heavenly Hill Honey.
